Fastactivate Tomtom
I'm so excited to tell you about the new tomtom fastactivate web service. It's a one-step activation page with no need for any third-party applications and it takes just seconds to complete. This new and exciting feature will unlock your tomtom device and activate it in just a few easy steps. It's perfect for any device that is activated through only web-pages only, like iphones. Here's how it works: * Access your device. (with an active internet connection & tomtom software installed) * Go to www.tomtom.com/activate ( http://www.mytomtom.com/activate ) * Enter the serial number for your device (this is usually located on the back of the unit). * Take note, the serial number is case sensitive so make sure you type it exactly as you see it above or on your tomtom device! If you have a software version prior to 5600r, you will have to activate via gps-online . * Follow all the activation on-screen instructions. * Connect your tomtom device to a USB port on your computer and everything is done on a secure page on a remote server. You do not have to be connected to the Internet during the process. * Once completed, you can see a message confirming that your tomtom device is now activated and ready for use. This message will be displayed as long as you have an active internet connection to load the webpage with it. If you do not have an active internet connection, you will still see this message but no further action is required of you. * Some of our users may want to activate multiple devices at the same time by using a single serial number. In order to do so, simply enter the serial number of each device you wish to activate. Click on SUBMIT at the end of the activation process and all selected devices will be activated simultaneously. Note: If you have a tomtom home unit, then this service is not available to you. You can find more information here: www.tomtom. com/activate Update by prm on Nov 20, 2009: please use a text tool to convert the serial number into all lower case letters. The activation process seems to fail if the serial number is not in lower case letters. Note: Do not wait for a response from the system after entering the Serial Number. If you do wait, you will need to enter your Serial Number again as it will create an error indicating that your Serial Number has already been used. Update by prm on Dec 03, 2009: I recently tested this hack on a VIA 1435M and it worked just fine even though I had entered a spare VIA1435M Serial Number (3960020008396002).
